Recently, it was reported that Halle Berry was going to play a jilted girlfriend opposite Jon Bon Jovi in rom-com “New Year’s Eve”. Now, according to Deadline, Katherine Heigl has replaced Berry in the role.
According to the site, Berry dropped out of the film; Heigl was free to take the role because she had recently dropped out of the film “Adaline”. As far as her reasoning for dropping out of “Adaline” goes, Heigl’s representation stated that she didn’t want to go back to work right away due to her adopted child. According to the site, a movie like “New Year’s Eve” won’t be too bad of a stint for Heigl as the film, being an ensemble film, won’t require her to have a long filming commitment.
Originally, Heigl was in talks to be in “Valentine’s Day”, but, according to Deadline, a deal never came through.
Here’s hoping Heigl does well in the Garry Marshall-directed film. The ever-expanding film, which now includes comedian Russell Peters as well as Robert DeNiro, Hilary Swank, Sofia Vergara, Ashton Kutcher, Ice Cube, Ryan Seacrest, Lea Michele, Michelle Pfeiffer, Josh Duhamel, Zac Efron, Abigail Breslin, Seth Meyers, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Biel and Ti Schweiger, will be released December 9, 2011.
