Morning, Shockya.com readers. It’s just about 9:00am on the west coast and the press conference for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn is about to kick off. The panel is empty at the moment, but soon enough the whole gang will take the stage. Be sure to keep refreshing your browser as I’ll be updating by the minute!
Elizabeth Reaser, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed Julia Jones & Booboo Stewart Press Conference
9:10 – Here we go! Elizabeth Reaser, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Julia Jones and Booboo Stewart on stage. They’re talking about whether or not they’ve ever been to Comic Con before.
9:13 – Greene recalls when she first found out she was cast. Reaser admits she hasn’t read the books, but she thought the idea of being in a series and playing a character over a long period of time was exciting.
9:15 – Reaser says her last day on set was a complicated experience because they all had different wrap days. “We knew we were going to be promoting the movie for a few more years, so it’s not really over.” She jokingly whispers, “It’s never gonna end.”
9:17 – Greene says they were working on two films, but at one time. Stewart chimed in to explain Bill Condon was great when it came to making sure the cast knew which movie they were in at the time.
9:19 – Green says she’ll miss Alice. The good part about this is that her experience playing this character is on film, so it’ll live on.
9:20 – The cast is asked what their favorite line is. Reed says, “I was a bit theatrical back then.” Reaser recalls a “sexy scene” she did with Peter Facinielli and laughs about how she always wished it were sexier than he did. Jones prefers Leah’s mean one-liners.
9:23 – Greene is talking about how it’s weird to shoot a wedding scene, but something about it reminded her of the baseball scene. Reaser wishes she could tell us how amazing it is, but she’s not allowed. Stewart jokes, “I just thought it was really cold outside.”
9:25 – Back to SDCC talk; the group is discussing where they’d go if they could attend any event here. Reaser wishes she could dress up as Batman. Reed is talking about playing “The Wonder Twins” with Facinelli for a College Humor piece. She got to wear prosthetics, which was fun. Stewart wants to go as a zombie or wear stilts so he can be taller.
9:26 – With all the fans out there, one reporter asks if there’s something they’d wait in line for for four days. Stewart says Lord of the Rings. Reaser explains the fans didn’t even know if they were coming, but if she knew the White Stripes would visit a tent, she’s wait there.
9:30 – Did they take anything from set on the last day? Reaser laughs she took socks, “but that’s just because I needed a pair.” Greene and Reed joke they’re afraid to take things because they don’t want to get in trouble. Jones said she took a ton of makeup. Stewart says, “I took a lot of craft service.”
9:33 – Last question in this round is about Greene’s ever-changing wig. The shorter look was decided upon by both Greene and Condon so Alice could have a more modern look.
Sorry about the Internet hiccup. We’re back and the next press conference session is in progress!
Bill Condon, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson & Taylor Lautner Press Conference
10:33 – Everyone is taking the stage – Bill Condon, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.
10:34 – First questions are about working in Brazil and being loved all over the world. Condon starts off by talking about Brazil, then Pattinson chimes in, touching upon how different it is to have an international fan base. “People in Brazil just come up and grab you!” Lautner laments that he did not get to go Brazil, but recalls a photo he saw that someone took of an extra that happened to look just like him.
10:37 – Do they think Breaking Dawn is really the end? Pattinson jokes “Breakfast Time” is next. Condon does suggest that this is the end of the Bella/Edward story, but maybe Stephanie would want to explore some secondary characters.
10:39 – Stewart talks about how Bella’s experience affects her personally. “It’s hard for me to take myself out of it. I’ve been building up to these moments for four years.” She had to keep in mind that these moments will find themselves naturally. “You have to let the moments happen and they did.” She notes the film sticks very close to the book, but there are some things that are added.
10:42 – Do they have a favorite scene in the movie? Condon says he has a lot. Lautner says he normally can choose one, but this time he can’t because “there’s so much going on.” He adds, “Jacob changes so much from beginning to end.” Stewarts says she loves a scene between her and Charlie at the wedding. Pattinson opts for the birth scene. He calls it “hardcore” and “graphic,” especially for a young adult film. “There’s no way to do it in any kind of tame way.”
10:46 – Stewart reveals that Lautner has some serious dance skills.
10:49 – Lautner says he was nervous about shooting the scene where he had to imprint. He says there was an “x” on the wall and he had to walk in to kill this baby, “stop, twist and imprint,” he laughs. He says he spent a lot of time talking to Bill and Stephanie about what “imprinting” really looks like.
10:51 – What was the most awkward scene to shoot? Stewart says, “I couldn’t pick up the kids sometimes.” Pattinson recalls using an automatronic baby at a point and likens it to Chuckie from Child’s Play. Stewart laughs about the sweaty man that’s controlling the baby.
10:54 – Last question. Pattinson is discussing dealing with crazy fans. “Different strokes for different folks, I guess.”
