Award-nominated actress Anna Easteden, a former farm girl from Finland, has been chosen to host the reality show, ‘Wipeout Finland.’ When the series announced its search for a host, she immediately jumped at the chance to audition. “I just felt it was obvious I’d be the host,” the actress said. “I love the American ‘Wipeout’ and have been a fan of that show for years. I felt like I was such a good fit because I love fun and am not so serious.”
The native Finlander, who currently resides in Los Angeles, spent about a month in Buenos Aires, Argentina to film 10 episodes. “It was my first time to Buenos Aires and I loved it,” she said. The host filmed the entire season in her native Finnish language, but admitted it was hard at first to not speak English.
The first episode of ‘Wipeout Finland’ premiered earlier this month on Finnish FOX, and quickly gained a gathering. Fans have already raved about the show, saying she’s good in her role as the host.
The emerging international star wasn’t always acting and hosting; she grew up on a farm. She was born and raised on her parents’ diary farm in Finland, but changed course when she entered and won a national modeling contest when she was 12. Soon after, she landed a contract with a major Japanese modeling agency, and she moved to Tokyo to begin work.
Easteden subsequently lived in various Asian countries and appeared as a model in advertising campaigns for such brands as Sony and Calvin Klein. Her look even landed her a job modeling for comic book characters, including ‘Spiderman’s Mary Jane and ‘X-Men’s Rogue. “I must admit, being transformed into a comic book hero is a little different to regular acting or modeling work,” she said.
The actress was later recognized at the Method Fest Film Festival, as she was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress award for her portrayal of a soft-hearted hooker in Mika Kaurismaki’s Finnish comedy, ‘The House of Branching Love.’ She has also appeared on such television series as ‘Bones,’ ‘Medium’ and ‘Days of our Lives.’
