Dig playing with your food? “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2” directors Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn got to do it for a living!
The new installment picks up right where the first film left off, with Flint Lockwood (voiced by Bill Hader) having just saved his hometown from his Flint Lockwood Diatonic Super Mutating Dynamic Food Replicator, but, the trouble is, now the region is buried in mutated food. In an effort to impress his idol, Live Corp. CEO Chester V (voiced by Will Forte), Flint agrees to return home to Swallow Falls, take care of those pesky leftovers, and restore the town to its former glory. Trouble is, the foodimals have already moved in and they like Swallow Falls just the way it is.
While promoting the film at San Diego Comic Con, ShockYa.com had the opportunity to sit down with Cameron and Pearn, discuss the genesis of the core concepts for the new installment, get a firsthand look at some of their unique sound and voice creation tactics and, of course, talk about what it takes to bring a slew of foodimals to life.
