Race to find love in the newly announced ‘Crimson Peak’ maze at the upcoming Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights. Guillermo del Toro, who directed the fantasy drama, announced at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday that the film will be made into a maze at Southern California’s most extreme horror experience. The new maze will debut when the annual Halloween Horror Nights event begins at Universal Studios Hollywood on Friday, September 18.
The Halloween Horror Night’s new attraction, which is named “Guillermo del Toro Presents Crimson Peak: Maze of Madness,” will be unearthed as a three-dimensional living representation of the film. It’s designed to send guests spiraling through the chilling world and in the footsteps of ‘Crimson Peak’s lead character, Edith Cushing, as they venture from her home in America to the decaying and haunted Allerdale Hall mansion in the remote English countryside. With a foreboding “Beware of Crimson Peak” message that echoes from Edith’s past, guests will navigate a labyrinth of paranormal tortured souls who have born witness to the estate’s dark history of unspeakable acts, and who continue to reside in vengeful, ghostly forms.
“I am a devoted fan of Universal Studios’ ‘Halloween Horror Nights,’ and I am honored to partner with them to create a real-life version of my gothic romance, ‘Crimson Peak,'” del Toro said. “It’s a thrill to work with the movie studio that gave birth to the modern horror movie genre. I can’t wait for movie-goers to enter the haunting world of ‘Crimson Peak’ as they navigate this haunting maze. I will be first in line to experience the scares of it myself.”
Besides directing ‘Crimson Peak,’ del Toro also produced and co-wrote the drama with ‘Mimic’ scribe, Matthew Robbins. After the film’s maze debuts at Halloween Horror Nights, the Oscar-nominated filmmaker’s anticipated gothic romance will be released in theaters by Universal Pictures on October 16.
Universal Pictures has released the following synopsis for Crimson Peak,’ which stars Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska and Charlie Hunnam:
