‘The Late Bloomer’ received its due attention when the comedy-drama celebrated its Los Angeles premiere this past Monday night at the iPic Theaters in Westwood. Following the screening, there was a private after party held at the Tuck Room Tavern located inside iPic Theaters. The premiere honored the upcoming distribution of the Kevin Pollak-directed romantic film. The movie will be released on Friday by Momentum Pictures in select theaters and On Demand and Digital H
Among those celebrities in attendance at the film’s premiere included several of its stars, including Brittany Snow, J.K. Simmons, Maria Bello, Johnny Simmons, Illeana Douglas, Blake Cooper, Joey Greer and Vanessa Ragland. Other celebrities who walked down the red carpet were Pollak; Ken Baker (E! News), who wrote the book that the movie is based on, ‘The Late Bloomer: A Memoir of My Body;’ and two of the film’s producers, Heidi Jo Markel and Raphael Kryszek. Several special guests also attended the premiere, including Camryn Manheim, Dr. Drew Pinsky, Zuri Hall (E! News), Carissa Culiner (E! News), and musician Em Rossi.
Momentum Pictures has released the following synopsis for ‘The Late Bloomer’:
Dr. Pete Newmans (Johnny Simmons) is a successful sex therapist whose practice is almost completely devoted to helping people re-channel their sexual impulses. When Pete is hit in the nether regions during a friendly basketball game, his doctors discover a pituitary tumor that has delayed Pete’s onset of puberty for 15 years. Not only does Pete suddenly have an explanation for the various physical and mental issues that had been plaguing him, he undergoes what would normally be years of puberty in a matter of weeks. Mood swings, voice changes and acne greet Pete as he tries to navigate life as both a horny 15 year-old kid and a 30 year-old desperate to be a complete man and get the girl of his dreams.
