Variety reports that director Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Buried Alive) has said that he will be filming an adaptation of Stephen King’s novella “The Mist” from the short story collection “Skeleton Crew”.

Frank Darabont chose to Direct The Shawshank Redemption as his first Stephen King film, but now says “It’s time to get down and dirty and make a nasty little character-driven gut-punch horror movie.”

Production should start in Spring 2007.
