Live At Hammersmith Odeon

SOMETHING OLD:

BLACK SABBATH

“Live @ Hammersmith”

RHINO

2007

Ok, I listed this as something old because it was recorded in 1981 at the legendary Hammersmith Odeon in London, England which is to be soon demolished.

Rhino only made 5,000 of these bad boys…..and I got a copy!

Anywho, this is a show from “The Mob Rules” world tour in 1981 with Dio on vocals and Vinnie Appice(younger brother of Vanilla Fudge drummer Carmine Appice) on the skins.

Let me tell you this baby sold out the day it was released and will not likely be re-issued.

The concert captured here makes”Live Evil” look like a complete and utter piece of shit! They were really on fire here!

The stand out tracks being “Heaven and Hell”, and the more rarely played tracks “Country Girl” and “Slipping Away”. There are some really killer renderings of classics such as “N.I.B.”, “Black Sabbath” and a furious “Iron Man”. The only solo here is a drum solo. better than the one on “Live Evil” but still uninspiring, Vinnie Appice is a great drummer with his simplistic style, but his style does not lend itself well to doing a solo.

United Abominations

SOMETHING NEW:

MEGADETH

“United Abominations”

ROADRUNNER

2007

Dave Mustain has finally made an album that is the perfect sequal to his 1986 classic “Peace sells…..But Who’s Buying” with this album. Just released yesterday here in the USA, this cd show Dave and the boys along with mascot Vic Rattlehead in very

fine form. From front to back I stalked this new metal masterpiece and i must conclude that the only track here I could do with out is the re-make of “A Toute La Monde”. Why on earth redo and fuck up your own song? Especially a good one.”Never walk alone…….A call to arms” was a weak song too. Great riff, but the lyrics really fucking suck. Dave, I respect your right to freedom of religion, But please keep it to yourself. I don’t wanna hear it, especially on an otherwise great cd. The steller stand outs here are the title track “United Abominations”, “Washington is next”, the wonderfully pissed off fury of “Gears Of War” and the haunting opener “Sleepwalker”.

THIS CD IS A MUST HAVE FOR ALL METALHEADS!!!!!

The Definitive Collection

SOMETHING FROM OUR JURASSIC PERIOD:

BO DIDDLEY

For those of you who are are not living under a rock, you know who this man is.

“Who Do You Love” is a great rock and roll classic from this man,one of the pioneers of rock and roll.

Sadly Bo just had a stroke and it is a very likely possibility he may never play again.

Get well soon and get well soon Bo.
