Filmz.ru got their hands on the latest Japanese movie poster from the upcoming film “Dragonball” by director James Wong (Final Destination 3) and starring Justin Chatwin (S. Darko), Ernie Hudson (Ghost Busters) and Yun-Fat Chow (The Red Circle).
Synopsis: James Wong adapts the rich mythos of the Dragonball series that grew from a manga into various popular animated series with this 20th Century Fox production starring Justin Chatwin. The plot revolves around Goku (Chatwin), Earth’s greatest champion, who must defend the planet against an invading race of alien warriors hell-bent on dominating the universe. Wong directs from his own script, with Kung Fu Hustle’s Stephen Chow producing. Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s James Marsters co-stars as the film’s villain, Piccolo, with Jamie Chung playing Chi Chi and Emmy Rossum portraying Bulma. we wont see super saiyan goku in the movie as its based on dragon ball and not dragon ball z

God this movie looks awful. It is going to rape the dragonball franchise. Justin Chatwin? As Goku? Hes the geek from war of the worlds that appears at the end even though you think he’s dead. The movie’s premise is wrong, Grandpa Gohan dies long before Goku finds out what the dragonballs do, and he doesnt even associate with piccolo until the last half of Dragonball. And at the moment Krillen isn’t in the movie, one of the main characters throughout Dragonball. I think Dragonball is amazing, yet I want to see this movie like I want Herpes.
when i saw this poster, i thought: this movie is gonna be crap. goku doesn’t have hair like that, doesn’t wear that belt and pants. And on the picture, i do not see any muscle. if this is going to be goku, it isn t even worth paying for a movie like that O__o

This movie is an adaptation of the series; it’s another incarnation of Dragonball through this director’s eyes; just like how the director of Transformers did things HIS way and did a GREAT job. Give this movie a chance because if you honestly think you could do a better job at taking a crack at a dragonball live-action film then go right on ahead and do it; otherwise shut ur mouth. Besides, you can’t expect them to follow the series EXACTLY, if they did that then there’d be no big surprises now would there? I think the new costume is amazing because the fact of the matter is this: Goku’s first original gi was blue, then it was pure orange, and then once he became an early adult it reached the well known blue/orange design; but seeing as how this is the 1st film out of 3 i could say him having blue pants and an orange shirt makes total sense because if anything certain parts of his uniform might stand for certain things he completed in his training; you never know! Just rest easy and give the movie a chance because if you can’t do a better job then you have absolutely no reason to critisize.
DjiNN,…. if there will be 3 movies wouldn’t it be more accurate to suggest that they will be as follows: movie 1: Dragonball ; movie 2: Dragonball Z ; movie 3: Dragonball GT, it is true that he doesnt have goku’s hair, i mean they could have at least made it look a little more like goku’s hair, but overall at least the got the symbol on his back right
this poster does not impress me at all. When you expect something good the poster must blow you away even I could do this with some good paint program saying hea I made a movie wait for it its not sucky realy just for fun i’ve found the first dragonball real life movie yeah come on that was fun crap. But more important if this movie does not meet at what the fans expect you better let the second be way more better as for the story we dont know where they are going to start maybe the red ribbon army or the king piccollo saga whatever . i think this would be an amazing movie if done in a style like 300 or sin city, giving it unlimited potential for the fights, but i don’t expect to like this movie at all i just cant see this dude like goku and that is the most important thing.. At least in X-men they made an excelent portayel of wolverine and they knew that the fans needed that.. goku is the soul of this whole thing at least put a little more effort in making apear as similar as posible.

MKR…I just know that, DB gt is lame and sayan saga is very important (goku relizes that he is an alien and that he has a brother) as for freiza saga Its the first time that Goku becomes Super saiyan ( they have to put super saiyan in the last movie ) cause everyone want to see the super saiyan, that will be in last movie. As for the others that say that this poster sucks. Gokus clothes must be little difrent ( I love the clothes, better than i Expected!), if he had the same clothes as in the cartoon he would look like power ranger. This is a live DB movie so it should be little difrent even in the story. They wouldnt make the story difrent for nothing. They made the story difrent so the movie will be better for the LIVE ACTION. I am concerned. They will have a very hard time meeting with my expectations…and honestly the other pics I’ve seen of Chatwin as Goku worry me a lot. What’s up with his clothes? Are they trying to set it in a more realistic world? *sigh* this could be good or bad. I doubt it will be mediocre.

I can only guess, that by the many mistakes they’ve made so far, they will end up wasting their money, and making a shit movie, only for little kids to see, that only play the games, and think they are hardcore fans of the DB series, when in all actuality, they are going to see this movie, and think this is how dragonball was, when it’s not even close to this.

I don’t mean to be overly picky but I think he’s holding the 2-star ball when in the series he inherited the 4-star ball from his grandpa.
Is everyone stupid who posts a flaming comment. Ill be honest I am not expecting much from this movie, but I think it will be ok. There is no human way to make everyone happy in making this movie, there is too much to gon on, the series spanned what 250-300+ epsisodes in DBZ alone im not sure not to mention the 60-80 or so in GT and I think around 120 or so ( probably not accurate) in DB. The amount of story in that is impossible to include. They are trying to stay true to the very basic idea of dragonball . Unless you want a 6 hour movie for each one (which for hardcore fines im sure is ok) but to make money on the film they need to condense it to below 3 hours. I wish it were possible to make it like the anime so it would be that much better to do but theat near impossible with the stunts that are pulled off in the anime. If you don’t like the idea of it dont flame like girls just dont watch it I personally will watch it and am not expecting a lot but I am a fan so I will watch it in the slim chance that it will be a hit. I dont see you flaming the ORIGINAL dragonball movie (made in 1984 or 1989 or something) now that was a travesty.
Talix is obviously a moron as well. The last saga in DB Goku IS in his twenties, when he faces piccolo junior or whatever you want to call him. There is a bit of a time skip in the sage he comes to the tournement as a late teen 18-20ish. Don’t be so ignorant when posting.
Also ADAPTATION is a key word as I stated in previous post. Obviously you arent going to see everything you want to see. I am sure when they did the Harry Potter movies they included everything written in the book so that it sold so well in theaters (sarcasm intended) Stop bitching and if it really is a flop when you actually see the movie, which all those bitching out there WILL watch it why the hell else would you be here if you didnt plan to watch it and were a fan anyhow, then feel free to flame.
i think that even if this movie is sub par, a live action series could still work. remember this a dragonball movie and not dbz, so if its a little cheesy then im fine with that. but it could only work if they take the vegeta and frieza movies more seriously and in a darker light.

Okay lets thinks about this…yes this bullshit of a movie is guaranteed to be a crappy kid movie, yes nothing will change the fact that this looks nothing like what we all expected (for example goku is wearing a normal fucking tee shirt, what went wrong), yes ,somehow characters fell into a warphole (lol) and could not make it to the movie like krillin…but the thing is we can’t do shit, as much as we want to try, we can give an endless list of critisms and hope the stupid editors listen but for now we have to watch it, and hope they listen to us hardcore fans and dont fuck up the saiyan saga onwards in others movies, because thats when we all look for every person associated wiith the movie and take them out personally
I think Dragonball will still be pretty good. I’m just happy that they are finally making a live action version! I’m sure it won’t live up to the die hard fans, but they should just be happy that a big budget movie is being made!
