Robot Chicken co-creators Seth Green and Matt Senreich are putting their chicken scratch to good use as Adult Swim presents a sweepstakes tied to the Emmy-nominated Robot Chicken: STAR WARS special. Beginning July 23rd, fans of the series and the legendary Star Wars franchise can log on to AdultSwim.com to enter for a chance to win a grand prize package that includes a copy of the Robot Chicken: STAR WARS script autographed by the series co-creators – and self-admitted Star Wars fanatics – Green and Senreich. The sweepstakes kicks off just as the special, which was recently nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program (for Programming Less Than One Hour), was released on a bonus-laden DVD on July 22nd for the suggested retail price of $14.97.
Beginning at 12:00 a.m. EST on July 23rd and running through August 8th, the random drawing will give fans a chance to win one grand prize and five runner-up prize packs. The one grand prize winner will win the autographed script, along with all three Robot Chicken DVDs – the series’ first two complete seasons and the Robot Chicken: STAR WARS titles – and an Adult Swim t-shirt. Additionally, five runners up will be selected to receive a Robot Chicken: STAR WARS prize pack with a t-shirt and the franchise’s three DVDs. Fans can log on to http://www.adultswim.com/shows/robotchicken/stuff/rcsw/ to participate and the winners will be randomly selected and announced on AdultSwim.com on August 12th.
Brazenly combining the satirical style of Green and Senreich’s Stoopid Monkey Productions and the creative team at ShadowMachine, headed by Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico, and inspired by the unforgettable moments and favorite characters of the Star Wars galaxy, the Robot Chicken: STAR WARS special intertwines the staples of George Lucas’s universe with “yo’ momma” battles, spoofs on George Dubya, and besotted fanboys. To pull off this parody, the Emmy-winning Robot Chicken guys enlisted the help of big Hollywood names, former boy-band members and even George Lucas himself. In addition to Lucas’s cameo appearance in a hilarious fan-convention scene, other celebrities voices include: Conan O’Brien, Seth MacFarlane, Malcolm McDowell, Hulk Hogan, James Van Der Beek, Robert Smigel, Donald Faison, Abraham Benrubi, co-writer Breckin Meyer and Joey Fatone.
The Robot Chicken: STAR WARS DVD includes two hours of bonus footage, including:
– Chicken Nuggets (Sketch by Sketch Video Commentary)
– Animation Meeting
– On-Air Bumps
– Trailers
– Behind-the-Scenes Featurette
– Deleted Scenes
– Alternate Audio
– Time Lapse Sequences
– Photo Gallery
– STAR WARS Celebration IV Convention Panel Presentation
– Production Design Featurette
– Episode Commentary – more than two hours
Robot Chicken: STAR WARS was created and executive produced by Green and Senreich under their own Stoopid Monkey Productions, in conjunction with Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico’s ShadowMachine. The special debuted on Adult Swim in June 2007. The duo also executive produce, write (with head writers Doug Goldstein and Tom Root) and direct (with Chris McKay) the series, with Green providing many of the voices in both the special and the series, which is currently finishing up its third season on Adult Swim. Since debuting on the network in February 2005, Robot Chicken consistently ranks as one of the highest rated in the programming block and in 2007 the show was nominated for an Emmy® Award for Outstanding Animated Program. In addition to Green’s Annie Award for Directing, the television series won an Annie Award for character animation.
Adult Swim ended 2007 as the #1 network in total day delivery of key young adults among ad-supported basic cable, according to data from Nielsen Media Research. The late-night network outdistanced its own record-setting performances in 2005 and 2006 with the best total day delivery in basic cable history among adults 18-34 (433,000) and men 18-34 (273,000), representing 8% and 13% growth, respectively, vs. 2006. Robot Chicken topped the network’s 2007 ratings and delivery charts, earning an average delivery of 600,000 adults 18-34.
