Actor and comedian Bernie Mac died today at age 50 from complications due to pneumonia. Bernie Mac, perhaps best known for his television sitcom “The Bernie Mac Show”, has had recent roles in Transformers, Ocean’s Thirteen and in the upcoming comedy Old Dogs with John Travolta, Robin Williams and Seth Green.
“Actor/comedian Bernie Mac passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital,” his publicist, Danica Smith, said in a statement in Los Angeles.
According to reports, Bernie Mac suffered from sarcoidosis, a inflammatory lung disease that causes lumps of cells in the body’s organs, but his condition went into remission in 2005 and wasn’t the cause of death.
