In 1979, horror fans all over the world witnessed a new kind of horror film with the release of Don Coscarelli’s Phantasm. Now, as it nears its thirtieth anniversary, Phantasm will finally receive a “World Masoleum Premiere” in the most appropriate of venues: an actual cemetery! As part of their annual outdoor “Summer Screenings” series, Cinespia will present the original Phantasm – projected on the wall of the Hollywood Forever Cemetery mausoleum. The film’s stars “Tall Man” Angus Scrimm, “The Ice Cream Man” Reggie Bannister, Kat Lester and writer/director Don Coscarelli will be on hand to introduce the screening and reminisce about the making of what is now considered one of the seminal horror films of the last century.
In addition, there will be a Phantasm trivia contest conducted by the special guests, where lucky “Phans” will have a chance to win the new Phantasm IV: Oblivion DVD – signed by Angus Scrimm, Reggie Bannister, Kat Lester and Don Coscarelli! Phantasm IV: Oblivion, the final chapter in the classic horror saga, arrives on DVD August 26th from Anchor Bay Entertainment.
The gates open at 7:30 p.m. and the show will start promptly at 8:30pm. Admission is a $10.00 donation and parking is $5.00.
