During a recent press tour for his new film Bangkok Dangerous, Nicolas Cage let slip about a few of his upcoming projects. Cage discussed the possibility of reviving his characterization of Ghost Rider from the 2007 film for a sequel, bringing the Hell-touched, chain-wielding, bike-riding hero Johnny Blaze, back to the big screen. Cage says he had “a nice meeting with the studio about 3-months ago, and we talked about going international with that character. Taking him into Europe, having him go on a motorcycle tour through Europe, and he’s connected with the church, if you can believe that.”
Cage also mentioned in the interview working on comic film Kick-Ass with director Matthew Vaughn, in the role of Big Daddy. Kick-Ass is an adaptation of the incredibly popular and violent comic book by Mark Millar of Wanted fame, and is about a kid who always wanted to be a superhero and proceeds to make his dream come true despite having no skills or powers at all. Cage said “I play a guy named Damon, the father of Mindy who is “Hit Girl” and I’m “Big Daddy,” and I’m training my daughter to be a superhero.” Kick-Ass is currently in pre-production with a tentative release date sometime in 2009.
