Los Angeles, CA) – First Look Studios proudly announces the DVD release of WAR, INC., a raw look at the truth behind the corporatizing of war. In the midst of the political sparring surrounding the 2008 presidential election and the sea of disinformation created by the campaigns, WAR, INC. provides a fresh perspective of recent current events. Co-written by John Cusack, Jeremy Pikser and Mark Leyner, and directed by Joshua Seftel, WAR, INC. is a satire inspired by the influence of multinational corporations over the United States’ international affairs. Written and produced to take a poignant political stance, the film has enlisted the support of highly respected politicians, entertainers and tastemakers such as Rachel Maddow, Tim Robbins, Gore Vidal, Bill Maher, Robbie Canal, Craig Ferguson, Diablo Cody, Sarah Silverman, Naomi Klein and Arianna Huffington. The DVD is in stores October 14, 2008 at an SRP of $28.98.
Reprising his role as hitman for hire, John Cusack stars as Hauser, a neurotic veteran of highly-classified missions, who has been assigned to kill the oil minister of the fictional Turaqistan, a country occupied by an American private corporation run by the former US vice-president (Dan Aykroyd). The mission, which was meant to facilitate the seizing of opportunities the war-torn nation offers, becomes convoluted as Hauser must pose as the corporation’s trade show producer in order to accomplish his assignment. Hauser struggles with his own growing demons, as he deceitfully maintains his cover by organizing the high-profile wedding of Yonica Babyyeah (Hilary Duff), an outrageous Central-Asian pop star, and through preventing a sexy left-wing reporter (Marisa Tomei) from finding the truth behind the corrupt operations in Turaqistan.
