Kenny is a feature length adaptation of a popular 2005 Australian short film. This mockumentary follows Kenny Smyth played by Shane Jacobson , an unappreciated but very likable character, who’s job is to deliver and maintain porta-toilets to the biggest festivals and to the smallest church socials. In the absence of his boss, Kenny finds himself in Nashville Tennessee, where he represents his employer “Splashdown” at the International Pumper and Cleaner Expo (or “Poo HQ” as Kenny calls it). A fish out of water, Kenny still manages to find himself a new girlfriend and land a huge contract, but has to return home to his sick father.
“Kenny” has a pretty solid storyline, and a great cast of characters. What I enjoyed most about the film was Shane Jacobson’s flawless performance, and the characters unwaveringly positive outlook on life. “Kenny” is one of the best comedies I’ve seen all year. Line after hilarious line, this unique and heartfelt story draws you in at the word go. Kenny is a working-class hero with a heart of gold and even in the stinkiest of situations manages to come out optimistic.
