Transformers fansite Transformer World 2005 is reporting not only that the giant Decepticon robot known as Devastator will be appearing in “Transformers : Revenge Of the Fallen”, the sequel to the 2007 live-action blockbuster, but also on the specific components, as the giant robot is actually made up of several Transformers combining into a single robot that will tower over the others on-screen.
The segments are:
A red O&K Terex RH400 hydraulic mining excavator, a yellow Caterpillar 992G wheel loader, a green Caterpillar 773B dump truck, a silver Mack cement mixer, a red Komatsu HD465-7 articulated dump truck, a beige Caterpillar D9L bulldozer, and a bright yellow Kobelco CK2500 truss crane.
Devastator was originally created in 1985 in Marvel Comics’s books following the adventures of the Transformers, and was formed when the villainous Decepticons who went under the sub-moniker Constructicons, who would transform into construction vehicles, combined into a single giant robot. In the 2007 “Transformers” live-action film, “Devastator” was actually one of the two apparent names for one of the Decepticon villains, the other being “Brawl”. The robot was an M1 Abrams tank, and referred to as “Brawl” in merchandising but called itself “Devastator” in the film itself. Director Michael Bay has stated that this was a mistake and that the name was meant to be “Brawl”.
“Transformers: Revenge Of the Fallen” is due out June 26th, 2009.
