Hollywood Elsewhere is reporting on rumors that are confirming Josh Brolin will star in Warner Bros’ big-screen adaptation of the legendary Western comic character, Jonah Hex, to be directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor.
Warner has no comments on the rumors, and Brolin’s representative is denying that there is any truth to the rumors at all, though Hollywood Elsewhere claims their source has the deal being “locked down” sometime last night. The source also claims that the script is a mix of CGI and Western action.
Hex, a DC Comics character, was first created by writer John Albano and artist Tony DeZuniga in the 1970’s, and is known for his anti-hero elements and heavily-scarred face. The character has had several title series of his own, including a run in the 90’s that incorporated supernatural and time-travelling elements and one launched by DC in 2005 that is still running.
Brolin can next be seen starring in “W.”, the Oliver Stone-directed George W. Bush biopic as the President, due in theaters October 17th. He can also be seen in “Milk”, the Harvey Milk biopic starring Sean Penn, due out November 26th, as Dan White, the man who assassinated the gay rights activist and San Francisco city supervisor in 1978.
