This movie is going to kick your flu shot’s ass! Indie film star Ford Austin and actor Randal Malone are cast in the upcoming Michael W. Schwibs Production “RAT SCRATCH FEVER”. The film is helmed by maverick director Jeff Leroy (Creepies I & II, Werewolf in a Women’s
Prison) and is slated for release in early 2009.
“RAT SCRATCH FEVER” is a feature film about a female astronaut named Sonja (Tasha Tacosa) who is sent with a team to a distant planet in search of life. The private space firm who finances her space mission is the Steel Space Corporation. The founder of the corporation, Dr. Steel is played by Randal Malone (MTV’s Singled Out, In The Land of the Merry Misfits, The Curse of LIzzie Borden). When her space mission goes awry after being attacked by giant rats from another planet, Sonja’s ex-marine boyfriend Jake, portrayed by Ford Austin (The Wright Stuff, Pearl Harbor, Family Tree), has to race against time to save her from Doctor Steel.
“The film is a homage to Food of the Gods (1976)”, says director Jeff Leroy, “I picked up Famous Monsters every month, and they had a cover story about Bert I. Gordon’s film with all kinds of really cool stills of giant rats attacking people. The giant rat heads were made by make up mastero Thomas Burman. Food of the Gods didn’t live up to the hype in Famous Monsters, but Gordon’s movie had a lot of energy and animal attacks. My film has the same energy and better effects. No rats were hurt, but plenty of humans get gnawed to pieces.”
