Renowned actor Jeff Bridges, who starred opposite Robert Downey Jr. in this summer’s blockbuster “Iron Man”, recently released an online photo collection of his backstage and personal photography, which Bridges is an amateur practitioner of, from the “Iron Man” shoot.
The rest of the photos an be found here, where Bridges documented not only pre-production meetings and intimate cast moments, but also his own character development process, specifically his character’s trademark, a fully-shaved head.
Bridges played Obadiah Stane, Tony Stark/Iron Man’s business partner-turned-nemesis, and the pilot of the villainous Iron Monger armor. The character was initially introduced in Marvel Comics’ “Iron Man” in 1982 and was Stark’s business rival, obsessed with destroying his life. Stane as the Iron Monger fails in the comics and rather than admit defeat, kills himself.
“Iron Man” was released on May 2nd 2008 to critical and box-office acclaim, and went on to gross over $300 million in the US as of November. It hit stores on DVD and Blu-Ray on September 30th. “Iron Man”, the first movie independently produced by Marvel Studios and the first of several films being produced to tie into their long-anticipated 2011 “Avengers” movie, was directed by Jon Favreau and starred Bridges, Downey Jr, Terrence Howard as James Rhodes, and Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts.
