Ain’t It Cool News talked with Tim Blake Nelson recently about his role as Samuel Sterns in this past summer’s Marvel Studios hit “The Incredible Hulk.” Nelson chatted about the possibility of returning as Sterns in his supervillain role, the mutated genius known as The Leader, for a potential Hulk sequel.
Nelson says that in regards to statements by “The Incredible Hulk” producer Gale Ann Hurde about his returning, “[t]hat’s the plan. That’s what they tell me, but I don’t know when that’s happening or what the details are but I am eager to do it and I hear that’s in the works. I would tell you if I knew more, but I honestly don’t. […] so if they want me for Hulk 2 I’m there, it certainly was the plan going into Hulk 1. When I met with them they said this is where it’s headed so I’m eager to do it.”
Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, The Leader first appeared in “Tales To Astonish” in 1964. He is the gamma-radiated Samuel Sterns, working in a laboratory as a menial worker until exposed to gamma radiation waste and transformed into a megalomaniac genius with green skin, an enlarged brain, and evil persona.
