Universal Pictures has done a major revision of its 2009 release calendar, moving Fast and the Furious 4, Ridley Scott’s Nottingham and The Wolfman remake.

Fast and the Furious 4, originally scheduled to premiere on June 12th, is now set to hit the big screen on April 3rd, taking the place of The Wolfman.

The classic monster movie remake, which stars Benicio Del Toro with Joe Johnston directing, has been pushed to a November 6th release date.

Scott’s Nottingham, starring Russell Crowe, was bumped from 2009 entirely and will open sometime in 2010, but no official date was set.

Universal said the reshuffling was the sensible thing to do, considering that Fast and the Furious 4 is finished while Nottingham won’t start production until February or March 2009.

The studio continued, saying The Wolfman‘s November release will give the film more of a high-profile release, as well as ample time for post-production.

Universal has kept one of its original release dates, for the Will Ferrell comedy The Land of the Lost which opens June 5.
