The official HD trailer for the highly-anticipated “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” is up online, either at the official Myspace page (though you have to add the profile as your friend to view the trailer), or a short preview below.
“X-Men Origins: Wolverine” tells the tale of the future X-Man, fifteen years before the first X-Men movie. It tells the tale of his history with the shadowy Weapon X project, his loves, his nemesis Sabretooth and the roots of their rivalry, and hints at just how far back his origins go as he breaks away from those who would turn him into a monster and killing machine.
The trailer debuted this past weekend during the premier of “The Day The Earth Stood Still” remake starring Keanu Reeves, Kathy Bates, and Jennifer Connelly. “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”, starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, and Danny Huston as William Stryker, is directed by Gavin Hood and is due to hit theaters May 1st, 2009 from 20th Century Fox.
Marvel’s Wolverine first appeared in “Incredible Hulk” in 1974 and has since gone onto become one of Marvel Comics’ most popular characters, starring several of his own series, miniseries, as well as in various “X-Men” titles and guest-starring in multiple other Marvel titles. A feral mutant with incredible healing powers, a prolonged life, and razor-sharp claws that like his skeleton, is coated in the unbreakable metal adamantium, Wolverine, also known as Logan, grew to popularity as the quintessential “anti-hero” with gruff anti-authority nature, berserk rages, and troubled past. Jackman has portrayed Wolverine since 2000’s “X-Men” movie.
