Three new “Fanboys” clips have hit the web courtesy of io9.com, giving a short but sweet taste from the highly-anticipated nerd fantasy film. You can check them out here.
“Fanboys”, directed by Kyle Newman and starring Jay Baruchel, Dan Fogler, Sam Huntington, Chris Marquette, and Kristen Bell, tells the tale of a group of friends and “Star Wars” fanatics in 1998 who decide to break into Skywalker ranch and steal an early copy of “Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace” as a last wish for a friend dying of cancer. Along the way they encounter everything from maniac bikers to William Shatner and devious Star Trek fans.
The movie has had the unfortunate luck of being plagued with reshoots and changed release dates, having originally been scheduled for release in 2007. Additional funding in ‘07 allowed for reshoots and the addition of shots that had been cut due to budgetary concerns, which then pushed the film back further to 2008. Then in January of 2008 news leaked out that the film’s story was being changed to remove the cancer part of the story, before it was put back into according to Star Wars fansite TheForce.net due to massive online fan demand and petition.
“Fanboys” hits theaters February 6th 2009.
