According to sci-fi site io9.com, Megan Fox has officially denied being the next Lara Croft for any future “Tomb Raider” film projects, despite rumors to the contrary.

LatinoReview.com first reported the rumor, which also included some details about the possibility of the 3rd “Tomb Raider” movie. However, a spokesperson for Fox “She’s not involved in the movie at all.”

Lara Croft first appeared in the first “Tomb Raider” video game in 1996 and has since gone onto become an icon in the gaming industry, as well as having branched out into several other medium besides the long-running action game series. Top Cow Productions released a “Tomb Raider” comic book that ran between 1999 and 2005, and there have been two live-action movies (“Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” and “Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life”, in 2001 and 2003, respectively), both starring Angelina Jolie in the role of Croft, the globe-trotting, gun-toting, archaeologist and treasure-hunter. There have even been theme park rides.

Fox rose to prominence in 2007’s live-action “Transformers” film, and will be appearing in the upcoming film “Jennifer’s Body”, in theaters September 18th, 2009, as well as “Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen”, the sequel to the 2007 adaptation of the classic toy and cartoon series, which is out June 26th 2009.
