IESB is reporting that is has a confirmation of screenwriter Dan Mazeau working on a script for the silver-screen treatment of DC Comic’s scarlet speedster, The Flash.

Though he refused to confirm the report, he did say “I was always a big fan of the comics. I was around for… Gosh, this is embarrassing, you know, the last two Flashes. The Flash that was the policeman and Kid Flash, Wally, and his uncle. Those are the two Flashes that I grew with, so I was excited to have the opportunity to try and see if I could actually translate those characters to the screen.”

So far no other news has been released about the movie, or the general state of DC properties following their decision last month to freeze all film adaptation projects for the upcoming future, including any other Batman films or the long-rumored Green Lantern project.

The Flash is a moniker used by several DC characters over time in the DC Comics universe, all possessive superhuman speed and reflexes that appear almost impossible. Created by Gardner Fox and Harry Lampert, the original Flash, Jay Garrick, first appeared in “Flash Comics” #1 in 1940. Others who have used the name include Barry Allen, who first debuted in 1956 and recently made a return to the DC universe, Wally West, who debuted in 1986 as “Kid Flash”, and Bart Allen, Barry Allen’s grandson, who appeared as The Flash between 2006 and 2007.
