Dirk Blackman and Howard McCain, who recently penned “Outlander” and co-wrote “Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans”, have been hired for the big-screen adaptation of the Red 5 comic book “ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction”.
The comic, created by “Underworld” creator and writer of Marvel Comics’ “New Warriors” title Kevin Grevioux, follows an elite team of soldiers sent on a covert operation into hostile territory in the Middle East to stop what they soon discover to be a government-created army of the undead, the result of a secret weapons project gone terribly wrong.
Jake Weiner and Josh Feldman from Benderspink are overseeing the project. Benderspink is also involved in several other comic adaptations, including the New Line “Y: The Last Man” adaptation, as well as working on “Pet Robots” at Disney and “The Ghouly Boys” at Mandate. So far there is no announcement of cast, director, or anticipated release date.
