Things have been pretty quiet since Scream 4 was announced as being in production in July 2008, but today RopeOfSilicon.com has been provided with big news: the sequel is moving forward!
Not only is Scream 4 working towards production, but according to a document from the William Morris Agency, sent by an anonymous source, the fourth installment of the film is kicking off a new trilogy. This means we will get a Scream 4, 5 and 6 from the series’ co-creator Kevin Williamson, who is reportedly writing a draft of the sequel. To see the screen capture of the email, click here.
A separate source also reports that Scream stars Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox-Arquette and David Arquette are in talks to have cameos in the new film. However, if the characters do make an appearance, the new trilogy is said to be a younger version of what has happened in the previous three films.
As for the series’ other co-creator, horror icon Wes Craven, he has said that he will absolutely sign on for the fourth film if the script is good as well as the paycheck. The implication seems to be that he wants more money for his past Scream films, but no confirmation of that has been made. It is also unconfirmed if he will be returning as director or is interested in just producing the film.
