Hitting theaters May 1st 2009, “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” is a prequel to the X-Men film franchise and stars Hugh Jackman as the title character, the mutant and future X-Man known as Wolverine, aka Logan. The film will look at his early years, his loves, his life with the mysterious super soldier project Weapon X, his relationship with his nemesis and brother Sabretooth, and how he came to have his now-trademark metal skeleton and claws.
The film also stars Liev Schreiber as the similarly feral mutant Sabretooth, Ryan Reynolds as the sword-weilding jokester Deadpool, Danny Huston as Weapon X commander William Stryker, and rapper Will. I. Am as the teleporter Wraith.
Wolverine first appeared in Marvel’s “The Incredible Hulk” in 1974 as an agent of the Canadian government as has since gone on to become one of Marvel Comics’ trademark characters, having had several of his own titles, appeared in both various “X-Men” and “Avengers” titles, and been in almost every media adaptation of the “X-Men”. Born in the 19th century, Wolverine is a mutant with animal-like senses, razor-sharp claws and bones coated with the unbreakable metal adamantium, and a healing factor that accelerates his recovery from wounds and has allowed him to live as long as he has.
