A new trailer for the upcoming “Star Trek” film has hit the web after premiering this weekend before “Watchmen” in theaters.
“Star Trek”, directed by JJ Abrams, is a prequel film in the franchise based on the Gene Roddenberry science fiction franchise, telling the story of Kirk’s entry into Starfleet and his and Spock’s first mission together, while a time-travelling villain, Nero, escapes his prison and appears, intent on destroying the entire universe.
“Star Trek” stars Chris Pine as future captain James T. Kirk, Zachary Quinto as the logical half-human, half-Vulcan Spock, Karl Urban as Dr. “Bones” McCoy, Simon Pegg as engineer Montgomery “Scotty” Scott, John Cho as helmsman Hikaru Sulu, Zoe Saldana as comm officer Uhura, Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov, and Eric Bana as the villainous Romulan Nero. The highly-anticipated film has been in production since 2005, and hype has been building since the release of the first official trailer before screenings of “Cloverfield” in January in 2008.
The film hits theaters on May 8th 2009.
