Blackfilm.com is reporting that Columbus Short (“Stomp The Yard”) has joined the cast of “The Losers”, the adaptation of the DC/Vertigo comic series for Warner Bros. Short will be playing the role of Pooch, and is joining Jeffrey Dean Morgan (“Watchmen”), who plays Clay, the team’s leader. Sylvain White, who has also been tapped to direct the adaptation of comic legend Frank Miller’s “Ronin”, will be directing “The Losers”.
DC/Vertigo’s “The Losers”, created by Andy Diggle and Jock, tells the story of Special Forces group who work as black-ops operatives for the CIA, who are set up and cut off, left to die after a mission goes horribly wrong. Surviving against all odds, they set out to fight against the forces they used to work for and discover the truth about just why the enigmatic man known as Max set them up. Running between 2003 and 2006, the series is a very loose adaptation of DC’s original “The Losers” title, which ran in the 1970’s and was about a ragtag group of American soldiers who worked behind enemy lines during World War Two, though writer Diggle claims to have never read the original before writing his series.
