According to a Variety report, Walt Disney Studios has attached director Andy Fickman, who recently directed the Duane Johnson-helmed action flick “Race To Witch Mountain”, to direct the big-screen adaptation of the graphic novel “Monster Attack Network”.

The original graphic novel, released in 2007, focuses on a team of first-response agents led by the dashing Nate Klinger, who guard the citizens of Lapuatu, a Pacific island that would be a tropical paradise, save for frequent attacks by giant monsters that rise from the ocean as well as the newly-arrived industrialists and expatriates that are more than they seem. “Monster Attack Network” was created by writers Marc Bernardin and Adam Freeman and illustrated by Nima Sorat. It was published by independent publishing house AIT/Planet Lar.

Writers Scott Elder and Josh Harmon have been hired to adapt the graphic novel, which Disney will be pushing as a family-friendly and effects-heavy release about the elite agency fighting huge rampaging monsters that attack America’s shorelines. No casting choices have been announced so far.
