John Favreau has released details and updates about “Iron Man 2”, the sequel to the 2008 comic-book adaptation of Marvel’s red and gold Iron Avenger, starring Robert Downey, Jr. as the playboy genius inventor-turned-superhero.

Favreau has said that shooting beings in two weeks and that rehearsals are going on now. Final casting has not yet happened but will be made next week, and that rumors regarding Mickey Rourke or Scarlett Johansson will not be addressed yet. However, Rourke at least seems confirmed, which a picture from IESB.net of him in what is described as being a stand-in for a Russian prison seems to back up. You can check it out below.

Iron Man first appeared in “Tales of Suspense” #39 in March 1963, and was created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, Don Heck, and Jack Kirby. Injured while overseeing weapons he built overseas and captured by terrorists, he built a suit or armor to save his injured heart and escape, eventually becoming the hi-tech hero known as Iron Man and among other things, co-founding Marvel’s “The Avengers”.
