Zack Snyder recently sat down with MTV and talked about his upcoming projects, specifically his involvement with the much-speculated “Heavy Metal” film. “‘Heavy Metal,’ is coasting, […] I don’t know what’s going to happen, I’m excited about it. I love ‘Heavy Metal,’ if that happens it’ll be great.”
A new “Heavy Metal” film has been speculated as being in the works since March 2008 and Snyder has been one of the names attached to directing a segment in the film, which filmmaker David Fincher would be spearheading.

“Heavy Metal” is an American science fiction and fantasy comics magazine, known primarily for its blend of dark fantasy/science fiction and erotica based short comic stories and anthology stories that premiered in 1977. Leonard Mogel of National Lampoon discovered the French science-fantasy magazine “Metal Hurlant”, or “Howling Metal”, in 1974, and brought it to the US. The magazine was the inspriation also for the 1981 “Heavy Metal” film and the 2000 sequel “Heavy Metal 2000”, operating in a similar anthology format of stories featuring, like the magazine, violence and sexual content that have achieved cult status.
