Kate Mara and Clark Gregg have joined Marvel’s “Iron Man 2,” being directed by Jon Favreau and currently shooting in California. While Gregg is returning to his role from the first movie, SHIELD agent Phil Coulson, Mara’s role was not released, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Gregg first appeared as agent Coulson of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division in 2008’s summer smash “Iron Man” starring Robert Downey, Jr. This is Mara’s first time working with the Iron Man films.
Created in 1963, Marvel’s Iron Man has become one of the comic company’s most recognizable characters. Also known as the playboy industrialist and inventor Tony Stark, he is wounded by one of his own inventions and captured by terrorists while abroad. In order to keep himself alive and escape, he builds a suit of armor, eventually making it home. He decides to put his fortune and intellect to good use, becoming the red-and-gold high-tech hero known as Iron Man.
“Iron Man II”, directed by Jon Favreau, will star Downey, Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, and Samuel L. Jackson. It has a scheduled release date of May 7th, 2010.
