Summit announced that David Slade, director of “30 Days Of Night”, would be taking over the hit series with “Eclipse”, the third book in the “Twilight” series of novels by Stephenie Meyer. The latest “Twilight” Sequel entitled The Twilight Saga: New Moon has begun shooting in Vancouver. “New Moon” stars Robert Pattinson (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix), Kristen Stewart (Adventureland, The Runaways), Nikki Reed (K-11), Ashley Greene (Skateland), Taylor Lautner, (My Own Worst Enemy), Jackson Rathbone (S. Darko) Dakota Fanning and Kellan Lutz.
The official synopsis for “Eclipse” reads:
“In ‘Eclipse’, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob – knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.”
The film adaptation of the first novel, “Twilight”, was released in 2008 and was directed by Catherine Hardwicke. It stars Kristen Stewart (“Panic Room”, “Adventureland”) as Bella Swan, and Robert Pattinson as the vampire Edward Cullen. The film was in development since 2005 before Summit Entertainment took over.
