Marvel Entertainment has released a few updates on upcoming movie adaptations of their properties, including the highly-anticipated “Avengers” film.
“Iron Man 2” is already filming and still on-schedule for release May 7th, 2010, and release, and the Kenneth Branagh-directed “Thor” still hasn’t made any casting decisions, is in pre-production, and scheduled to being filming in the beginning of 2010. “Thor” is aiming for a May 20th, 2011 release. “The First Avenger: Captain America”, directed by Joe Johnston, is scheduled to start filming in the summer of 2010 and has a tentative July 22nd, 2011 release date.
Marvel’s President of Production Kevin Feige recently talked to Empire Magazine about “The Avengers” film, which is tentatively scheduled for a May 4th, 2012 release. He said;
“Zak Penn is already on board The Avengers [as a writer] and he’s spending a lot of his time looking into what we’re doing with Iron Man, Thor and Captain America, seeing how we’re tying it all together. And he’s beginning to outline the script now – he’ll be doing that over the summer.”
