Hitfix is reporting that Bradley Cooper (“Alias”, “The Hangover”) is a frontrunner to portray Hal Jordan in Martin Campbell’s adaptation of the DC title “Green Lantern” though no deal has been signed yet. The film is set for a December 17th, 2010 release.
The “Green Lantern” was created in 1940 by Bill Finger and Martin Nodell, though several characters have used the name. Hal Jordan was introduced in 1959 and is the second Green Lantern and a second-generation test pilot. He is given the Green Lantern power ring and lantern, the weapons of the intergalactic space police known as the Green Lantern Corps, by a dying alien named Abin Sur. Jordan is chosen as the Green Lantern by the ring, because he embodies the spirit of the Green Lanterns, being someone “utterly honest and born without fear.”
