Katie Holmes has been tapped to star in Miramax’s upcoming “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark,” a thriller scripted by Guillermo del Toro and Matthew Robbins. Del Toro and Mark Johnson are producing the film, which is being directed by del Toro protege and former comic-book artist Troy Nixey.
“Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” is based on a 1973 ABC telepic, about a young girl who moves in with her father and his girlfriend. Gradually she discovers that the family is sharing the house with devilish creatures that thrive in the dark.
No other information has been released about the project yet.
