Comic writer and artist Rob Liefeld recently talked with MTV and spilled some details about the upcoming adaptation of his title “Youngblood”.
The movie is currently being scripted by J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani, they are halfway through their first draft of the screenplay about the government-sanctioned and celebrity-ready superhero team who must grapple not only with various threats but also their own growing fame. The team first appeared in 1987 before gaining their own series in 1992 on Image Comics, which Liefeld formed with other comic book heavies, including Eric Larsen and Todd McFarlane.
Story-wise, the veteran creator said the big-screen adaptation of “Youngblood” would focus on team members Shaft, the high-tech bow-wielding marksman and former FBI agent, and Chapel, the gun-toting former soldier who lead the team.
Liefeld says “They don’t like each other […] Shaft is the new kid on the block in the movie, and he and Chapel have to put aside their differences to save the Youngblood program.”
