Warner Bros. and producer Dan Lin are reportedly planning to reboot the “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” film franchise that spun off from the 1996 Eidos video game franchise starring action hero and archaeologist Lara Croft, the English noblewoman who battles legendary and supernatural forces, pirates, traps and puzzles, and more, as she searches the globe for various treasures and other historical artifacts.
Lin will produce the new film through his Lin Pictures banner alongside producer Stephen Gilchrist, reimagining the origins of the character as well as introducing the main villain.
Lara Croft was first adapted for the big screen in 2001 with “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” and later on with 2006’s “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life”, both starring Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie as the eponymous heroine.
