Universal Pictures and Hasbro, Inc. have announced that the first feature film to be released under Universal and Hasbro’s six-year partnership, “Stretch Armstrong”, has been set for theatrical release April 15, 2011. It will be based on the classic stretching action figure of the same name.
Brian Grazer will work with Hasbro on bringing the character to the big-screen, and Steve Oedekerk is writing the screenplay for the 1970s toy. Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir of Hasbro will produce.
Stretch Armstrong is an iconic kid’s toy that allowed kids to pull and stretch his arms and legs up to four feet before returning to his original shape.
No other information has been released yet on the project.
