The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Columbia Pictures is developing a brand new “Bad Boys 3” film for director Michael Bay and stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
Peter Craig has been tapped by the studio to write the screenplay.
The two previous “Boys” movies from 1995 and 2003 featured Smith and Lawrence as Miami PD detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett. The first film grossed $66 million domestically and $141 million worldwide, while the sequel grossed $138 million domestically and $273 million worldwide. It also helped launch Smith as a worldwide action star.
Neither Bay, Lawrence, or Smith have officially committed to anything related to a third film so far.
