Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. Pictures has tapped “Snatch” and “Sherlock Holmes” director Guy Ritchie to direct a live-action adaptation of DC Comic’s “Lobo,” a title about a foul-mouthed hyperactive bounty hunter from space.
Don Payne wrote the most recent script, and Joel Silver, Akiva Goldsman and Andrew Rona will be producing the project, which will be a co-production between Weed Road and Silver Pictures.
The film will focus on Lobo, a seven-foot tall, blue-skinned, ultra-violent, and indestructible anti-hero bounty hunter who drives a flying motorcycle and comes to Earth seeking four fugitives who are bent on wrecking even more havoc than him. He teams up with a small town teenage girl to find and catch his bounties.
Production is beginning next year.
