Variety.com is reporting that Columbia Pictures has acquired the rights to remake the U.K. thriller miniseries “Red Riding.” The studio is negotiating with with Steve Zaillian to write and Ridley Scott to direct, with both producing.
Garrett Basch of Film Rites will be executive producer on the adaptation project.
The original miniseries was based on four novels by David Peace about the power plays and corruption that are involved during a law enforcement search for several missing girls.
IFC will be distributing the original 5-hour miniseries in the US.
