ScreenDaily.com mentions that Helen Mirren has joined the cast of “Red” alongside Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman. Her role has not been announced yet so far.
An adaptation of the Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner comic book from Homage/Wildstorm Comics in 2003-2004, “Red” is about a former CIA hitman named Paul Moses (Willis) who is targeted by his former employers for liquidation. Informing his handler that he was going “red”, meaning active, he sets out for some answers and revenge.
Screenrant is speculating that Mirren will play Moses’ handler.
The film is slated to shoot in Toronto and Louisiana soon, and will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian.
“Red” is scheduled for release by Summit Entertainment on November 19th, 2010.
