The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Columbia has tapped Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer (“Sahara”, “Dead Of Night”, “Cowboys & Aliens”) to script the adaptation of the hit video game “Uncharted: Drake Fortune” for the big screen.

Charles Roven, Ari Arad and Alex Gartner are all attached to produce. So far no director has been announced.

The “Uncharted” video game, which was release in 2007 from Sony, follows a treasure hunter named Nate Drake, a descendant of famous explorer Sir Francis Drake. The hero sets out to find the mythical city of gold, El Dorado, thanks to a clue from a cursed golden statue. However, the true nature of the treasure slowly becomes apparent as other treasure hunters want in, and the mutated monster descendants of ancient Spaniards and Nazis are determined to stop anyone from finding El Dorado.
