Disney has optioned rights to adapt the young adult novel “Fallen” by Lauren Kate.

Mayhem Productions’ Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray will be producing the project. The book, which was released this week from Delacorte Books for Young Readers, is about a lonely and alienated girl who finds herself the object of affection and attention from two young men, both of whom are actually angels battling over her.

The novel is part of a four-book series, all of which are included in the adaptation deal.

No casting or directing news has been announced yet.
