Kathryn Stockett’s hit novel “The Help” has been fast-tracked by Chris Columbus’ 1492 Productions for a big-screen film treatment.
Tate Taylor has written the script and will also be directing the project, which has no distribution release date set yet. Columbus, along with his other 1492 partners Michael Barnathan and Michael Radcliffe, will be producing alongside Harbinger Picture’s Brunson Green.
The 2009 book from Penguin Books is Stockett’s literary debut. It is set in a pre-civil rights era Jackson, Mississippi and is about African-American domestic help and their wealthy white employers.
