Virginia Madsen (“Candyman”, “Sideways”) has been tapped as the lead in ABC’s upcoming comedic drama series “Scoundrels.”
Based on the New Zealand TV series “Outrageous Fortune,” the series is about the matriarch of a family of criminals and con artists (Madsen) who decides to set her brood straight after her husband ends up in prison for a long stretch.
This is ABC’s second go at adapting “Outrageous Fortune”, the first time with Catherine O’Hara in the role in the 2008 pilot “Good Behavior.”
Richard Levine and Lyn Greene (“Nip/Tuck”) wrote “Scoundrels” and will also be serving as executive producers and showrunners for the series, which has already had 8 epsides ordered.
