Paramount has announced that they’re moving forward with the Tom Cruise-fronted “Mission: Impossible IV”. The film will be produced by Tom Cruise, J.J. Abrams (“Cloverfield”, “Lost”, “Star Trek”) and Bad Robot Productions, with Cruise starring as super-secret agent Ethan Hunt.
The film is slated to be released on Memorial Day weekend 2011.
Screenwriters Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are writing the script, based on an original concept by Cruise and Abrams. No director has been announced yet, though the studio, Cruise, and Abrams are in the process of seeking one out.
The “Mission: Impossible” film franchise, based on the hit TV series from the 1960’s/early 1970’s and then the 1980’s/early 1990’s, has earned 1.4 billion globally so far with three previous films.
